Pasta the way
Nonna made it.

Rolled by hand every morning. Sauced with tomatoes we can name. Served with too much bread, in a room that's a little too loud on a Friday — the way Italian food is supposed to be.

Our story

A suitcase, a recipe book, and a small dining room.

Bella grew up in Puglia and moved to Brisbane in 1998 with a suitcase and her mother's recipe book. The plan was six months. Twenty-seven years later she's still here.

The recipe book still lives in the kitchen. The sugo still simmers for eight hours. Every strand of pasta still passes through Bella's hands before it hits the pan.

We don't do fusion. We don't do truffle oil. We do what her mother did, in a slightly louder room with slightly better wine.

"Small tables, low lights, a bit of noise. Nowhere for your phone to hide."

180 bottles. Mostly Italian.

A tight list built by Marco, our sommelier — Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Aglianico from small producers, plus a rotating handful of natural wines from Adelaide Hills and King Valley. BYO Tuesdays: $10 corkage.

What people are saying.

"Tastes like my nonna's kitchen. Actually made me call her at 10pm on a Wednesday. Ten out of ten."
Marco L.New Farm
"The pappardelle ragù is worth the drive from anywhere in Brisbane. We book two weeks out and we don't share it."
Hannah K.West End
"Our Friday night for two years running. Bella still comes out to say hello. It's not a schtick — she means it."
